South Dakota will use federal dollars meant to improve rural health care to make changes that will be felt for generations, Gov. Larry Rhoden told health care leaders from around the country Tuesday.

Rhoden addressed Sanford Health’s Summit on the Future of Rural Health Care in Sioux Falls. The governor spoke just after Dr. Mehmet Oz addressed the conference via video. Oz serves as the administrator of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.

It’s the fourth year that Sanford, the nation’s largest rural health care provider, hosted the event.
