The South Dakota Attorney General’s Office is crediting license plate reader technology with finding a man wanted for allegedly kidnapping a 15-year-old girl on Monday.

The use of the technology – most commonly associated with cameras produced by Flock – has been hotly debated in South Dakota and across the country. On Tuesday, Minnehaha County Commissioner Cole Heisey called on the county to hold a hearing on whether to discontinue its use of eight Flock cameras.
