Who's at the Levitt? Line-up of 50 free summer concerts revealed
The Levitt at the Falls season begins on May 23 and features a variety of musical genres on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings.
Levitt at the Falls on Thursday released this summer's schedule of 50 free concerts at the outdoor venue in downtown Sioux Falls.
Live music is scheduled for every Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening beginning on May 23 and ending Aug. 30. There are also five Saturday morning concerts for families.
The lineup of local, national and international acts spans musical genres.
“We are so excited for this year’s concert lineup at Levitt at the Falls,” Nancy Halverson, Levitt president and CEO, said in a media release. “We are bringing in hundreds of incredibly talented musicians, including some community favorites from previous years. This summer is chalked full of exciting artists that I can’t wait to share with everyone.”
Each Levitt concert will include opening acts that start at 7 p.m., followed by a headlining band around 7:45 p.m. Food trucks and drinks are available on site. The events are also live streamed on Facebook and YouTube.
The Levitt season is supported by sponsors and contributions from attendees. The season sponsor is MarketBeat, a Sioux Falls financial media company.

Opening night on Friday, May 23 will feature two-time GRAMMY-nominated artist Divinity Roxx, a genre-spanning artist who frequently plays bass for Beyoncé. She’ll be returning for a family show as Divi Roxx Kids on Saturday, May 24 at 10:30 a.m. Closing out the season on August 30 is high-energy, 9-piece funk and rock group Empire Strikes Brass.
This year, the Levitt will feature its first double-header performance. Crowd favorite Brulé will take the Levitt stage on Friday, July 11 and Saturday, July 12 for two shows. As both Brulé experiences will be the same, audience members are encouraged to select one night to attend.
Other season highlights include the return of some Levitt favorites. Blues star Danielle Nicole will take the stage on Friday, June 27. Minneapolis-based Dessa returns to the Levitt with the South African 29:11 Choir on Saturday, Aug. 9. Irish favorite, the energetic Celtic group Socks in the Frying Pan, is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 2.
Four festivals will take place throughout the Levitt season.
The Festival of Cultures on June 14 in partnership with LSS of SD, featuring a headlining performance from Hot Peas ‘n Butter in the morning and world music group Espiral7 in the evening.
That Sounds Decent festival on Saturday, June 28 featuring bands with local ties, including headliner Soulcrate.
A celebration of the 35th anniversary of the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act on Saturday, July 26 with blues group Johnny Wheels & The Swamp Donkeys.
The Mitakuye Owas’iƞ * All My Relatives * Mitákuye Oyás’iŋ Festival is on Aug. 23. Sponsored by the SDSU Wokini Initiative, the festival celebrates Native American music, art, and culture. Hoop dance duo The Sampson Brothers will kick off the festival with a Family Series show at 10:30 a.m., and Sioux Falls’ own Mato Wayuhi will take the stage for an evening concert.
