Rhett Walker had not taken the LifeLight stage yet when he sat down for our interview, but he was already in performance mode — just not the polished kind.
Asked to introduce himself, Walker looked straight ahead and answered with a near-perfect repetition of the prompt.
“I’m Rhett Walker at LifeLight, and I’m going to be playing in a bit.”
There was no résumé, sales pitch or carefully prepared description of his Southern rock and country-influenced Christian music. Just a dry joke, delivered from beneath a thick beard by someone who has been interviewed enough times to recognize an opening he can play with.
