U.S. Attorney's Office announces that millions of dollars recovered for victims, law enforcement
Federal Crime Victims Fund has been running short of money, prompting lawmakers to backfill with $5.5 million to assist abused women, children
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of South Dakota collected more than $9.5 million in fines, restitution and other payments during fiscal year 2025, according to federal officials.
The office reported total collections of $9,516,233.90 through criminal fines, restitution, loan defaults, bankruptcy, forfeiture and civil enforcement efforts. It also worked with other U.S. attorney’s offices and components of the Department of Justice to collect an additional $16,747,398.58.

The Drug Enforcement Agency is in Rapid City this month with its Fentanyl Free America campaign. The federal drug busters are spreading the message about the dangers of fentanyl on digital billboards around the city. The agency will also have a presence at the Youth and Family Services’ Kids Fair at The Monument April 11-12.
