Thune earns award from foundation named after former Senate colleague
Hatch award recognizes those who work to bridge partisan divides
South Dakota Sen. John Thune was awarded with the Titan of Public Service Award by the Orrin G. Hatch Foundation Wednesday night during a ceremony in Salt Lake City, Utah.
The annual award recognizes a person “who exemplify the values of service, civility, and bipartisanship,” according to the foundation, which is named after Orrin Hatch, who was the longest serving U.S. senator in Utah history. Past awardees include Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell and former U.S. Secretary of Transportation Elaine Chao.
The foundation lauded Thune, who was a friend of Hatch’s, for working to pass legislation across partisan lines.
