PIERRE โ South Dakota voters could be asked to reconsider Medicaid expansion.
A South Dakota House committee voted Wednesday to reopen the fight over Medicaid expansion, sending a repeal proposal to the House floor four years after voters approved the program.
The House State Affairs Committee voted 8โ4 to advance House Joint Resolution 5002, which would ask voters in 2026 whether to repeal Medicaid expansion. Supporters warned long-term cost pressures threaten other state priorities, while opponents argued repeal would shift health care costs onto families, hospitals and rural communities.
