SCOUTING REPORT | S.D. sharpshooters, SDSU ash apocalypse, cocaine sharks, Hartford’s history

South Dakota’s 4-H shooting club turned in an excellent performance at this year’s 4-H Shooting Sports National Championships, earning a podium finish. The 35 shooters representing South Dakota State University Extension tied with Missouri for the second-place sweepstakes award. Louisiana won first place.
A total of 708 youth from 40 states participated in this year’s event, which took place at the end of June in Grand Island, Nebraska. They competed in archery as well as a multiple shooting disciplines.
Landon Tieszen of Turner County turned in the highest individual scores with a first-place victory in 3-D compound archery and a third-place finish in overall archery.
Three members of the team also participated as national ambassadors. They were Shay Solinsky from Custer County, Nicolette Hoffman from Douglas County and Mya Heinje from Roberts County.
