A committee that is raising money to build a new playground in Canistota is hoping to make a dent in the fundraising through a gun bingo and raffle on Oct. 3.

A $100 buy-in includes dinner and 10 games of bingo. A firearm will be the prize for each of the bingo games, and there will be a grand prize for an 11th blackout game.

The playground in question is more than 30 years old and is in need of updating, according to committee sponsors. Earlier this summer, they held donkey races as a fundraiser, an event that provided onlookers and participants with much levity, as the donkeys weren’t enthusiastic participants.

"While the most extreme worrywarts envision an army of AI powered robots descending on humanity, the reality about a lot of AI right now is that it isn’t always a reliable arbiter of basic information.” So the biggest issue about AI is it isn’t always accurate? I’m not an "extreme worrywart” but I do worry about the military’s use of AI to identify military targets that later turn out to be schools full of children, or about autonomous AI agents that hack computer systems in spite of being specifically programmed not to do so, and yeah, the fact that the more people ask AI for the answer, the less able they are to think for themselves. Confusing people about who pays to maintain sidewalks is a minor mistake, but compound that by thousands of bits of misinformation and the human cost of correcting all those minor mistakes becomes significant. I think those concerns are legitimate, not extreme.
