Rhoden, GOP leaders move to toughen penalties for threatening worship services
Legislation introduced following St. Paul Cities Church protest that disrupted service
PIERRE โ Gov. Larry Rhoden and Republican leaders in the Legislature are sponsoring legislation that would make it a felony to use threats of violence to prevent people from practicing their religion.
Rhoden, flanked by Republican lawmakers, announced the introduction of Senate Bill 113 Friday during his weekly press conference. And there was no mystery as to the provenance of the bill. Rhoden and GOP leaders cited the incident in St. Paul Sunday where illegal immigration activists burst into a church, disrupted the service and refused to leave.
