Rapid City settles discrimination suit brought by former police chemist
The city denied wrongdoing as it seeks to avoid costs of litigation
Rapid City has settled a lawsuit brought by a former police department employee who alleged she was a victim of discrimination.
But the city’s insurance company won’t be paying much to put the lawsuit in the rearview mirror. The city and Jasmin Farmakes agreed to settle her claim for $56,000, according to the agreement, which the city gave to The Dakota Scout.
In settling the lawsuit, the city and Farmakes agreed that it was not an admission of liability on Rapid City’s part.
