When we talk about education, we usually begin with children. We talk about test scores, teacher wages, school funding, and preparing students for college. Those conversations are important. But there is another group whose education deserves our attention: adults.
Adult education is not a second chance reserved solely for people who have made mistakes. It is an essential part of building a stronger South Dakota and America.
According to the South Dakota Department of Labor and Regulation, “More than 36 million American adults struggle to read, write, do math and use technology above a third-grade level.” At the same time, employers across the state need workers with those very skills.
