A team from South Dakota State University will be returning to NASA’s Human Exploration Rover Challenge in Huntsville, Ala., next spring. This comes after SDSU’s team won second place in the international contest in April.
But this year, SDSU’s team will have company. NASA has also accepted an entry from a Brookings High School team in the contest’s high school category.
The relationship between the two schools began last summer when Brookings senior Ian Coverstone got connected with Todd Letcher, an SDSU mechanical engineering professor who is the faculty adviser. Coverstone hopes to go into aerospace engineering.
