This year’s South Dakota Festival of Books in Sioux Falls won’t be the multi-day event of years past, following cuts to its budget.
But the show will go on, this year as a one-day event Oct. 3 – the festival’s 24th year.
“The Festival of Books is leaner this year after a 74 percent revenue cut,” said Christina Oey, the executive director of the South Dakota Humanities Council, the group that hosts the festival. “Still, attendees can expect cool programming that is very intentional. We will have more than 25 authors and two keynote speakers including Jeffrey Rosen, author of the book ‘The Pursuit of Happiness.’”
