High fuel prices have city of Sioux Falls dipping into reserves
Excess sales tax revenues will likely make up for gas costs
Gas prices have the city of Sioux Falls dipping into reserves.
The Sioux Falls Finance Department this week asked city councilors to sign off on a series of changes to the 2022 spending projections they adopted last fall, including about a quarter-million dollars to cover higher than anticipated fuel costs that have been pinching department budgets.
Specifically, Sioux Falls Fire Rescue is seeking an additional $100,000 in its 2022 budget to cover fuel costs and the Parks and Recreation Department an additional $140,000 due to the price of gasoline and diesel fuel.
