HARRISBURG — Residents will head to the polls Tuesday to decide the fate of a rezoning measure that would transform a 114-acre tract of land into a mixed residential development east of Louise Avenue.

The special election on April 8 asks voters whether to approve Ordinance No. 2024-09, which would rezone Tract 2 of the Paul Alan Addition from single-family residential (R-1) to natural resource (NR), low-density residential (R-2), and multi-family residential (R-3) designations. In October 2024, the Harrisburg City Council approved the rezoning, but a petition drive with 300 signatures subsequently challenged it, forcing a public vote.
