Wiik unveils list of heavyweight endorsements in bid for GOP chairman

The senator emerged as the establishment favorite after current Chairman Dan Lederman chose not to seek another term

If politics were baseball, John Wiik threw a brushoff pitch at the head of an opposing batter on Monday.

Wiik, a Big Stone City state senator, announced a long list of endorsements in his bid to become the Republican Party’s next chair. Wiik is running to replace outgoing Chairman Dan Lederman, who is not seeking another term. Lederman was among the Republican officials who endorsed Wiik.

So, too, was Gov. Kristi Noem.
