I launched my campaign for Minnehaha County auditor in January. Through many conversations with stakeholders at the county level I have gathered an understanding of what is currently working and what needs attention.

I will provide my thoughts and comments below in three key areas: elections, auditing and staffing.

The current auditor should be applauded for only hiring one more full-time staff, instead bringing in seasonal workers for peak times like elections. It is so rare to find a government employee that works toward efficiency and is a good steward of taxpayers money rather than automatically hiring more people. Ms. Anderson should also get credit for legislation she advocated for that improved the auditor office's ability to get election results more quickly. It's easy to criticize during a campaign, but Mr. Deedrich's information is clearly limited. Minnehaha has a professional, ethical auditor in Ms. Anderson, and she deserves to be re-elected in November.
