Box Elder is not just another small town — and Rapid Valley is more than a “bedroom community.” Together, they sit at the center of one of the most strategically important military installations in the country: Ellsworth Air Force Base.
Their growth is directly tied to the base’s expansion, with Box Elder growing more than 50 percent from 2010 to 2020 and continuing to surge as the B-21 Bomber program ramps up.
