I read a letter to the editor in our local paper this week. A candidate for state office had made assertions during the Deuel County Lincoln Day Dinner regarding what he viewed as inappropriate amounts of money having been donated to his current opponent by the ethanol industry in the 2024 campaign.
The letter was written by one of these ethanol companies, and they accused him of using inaccurate figures in his address. Part of what they said was, in fact, technically correct. The limit on what can be contributed to a legislative campaign by an entity or an individual is $1,000.
