South Dakota will receive $13 million in federal funding to expand behavioral health care and create a 24/7 mobile crisis response service, the Trump administration announced Thursday.
The funding includes 12 modernization and infrastructure grants for providers participating in South Dakota’s Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic initiative, which is administered by the state Department of Health. The grants are intended to help providers expand crisis services and strengthen the behavioral health workforce.
The investment is designed to help connect South Dakotans experiencing mental health or substance use challenges with timely care.
