A convoy of five buses carrying the acclaimed Lincoln High School Patriot Marching Band departed from the school at 4 a.m. Saturday.

Twenty-five hours later, the band returned home victorious.

The Patriots made history by becoming the first South Dakota marching band to win the Bands of America Regional Competition. The competition took place in Waukee, Iowa, in suburban Des Moines.
