STRAIGHT OUTTA PIERRE | Midwest nice — don't compliment us, but lets argue about the Pope
Sharp, snappy and South Dakotan — an anonymous shot of insight with a twist of sarcasm
I don’t know if it’s the time of year or just the general mood of things, but it feels like everybody’s got something to say right now. Some of it is thoughtful. Some of it loud. Most of it very, very certain.
Which is interesting, because if you spend any time around actual people in South Dakota, certainty is not usually our strong suit.
Take compliments.
There’s a uniquely Midwestern condition we don’t talk about enough, and that’s our complete inability to accept one.
