Money could be awaiting South Dakotans after a recent judgment against nationwide drug pushers.

The Attorney General’s Office on Tuesday announced consumers in the state might be eligible for compensation for certain generic drug purchases after the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut OK’d a plan to distribute settlement funds paid by generic drug manufacturers accused of illegally conspiring to raise the prices of generic pharmaceutical drugs.

I don't like the way pharmaceutical companies do business in this country either, but phrases like "nationwide drug pushers" aren't helpful. Trying to put these companies into the same category as street-level drug dealers might FEEL righteous, but they are not thugs. They're more like armies, but with lawyers and PR teams. Most generic drugs ARE made in India or China, but the cartel/pusher comparison still doesn't hold up. The drugs they're selling aren't illicit, they're the drugs people depend on every day, the price fixing scheme on these generic drugs hit people on Medicare and Medicaid the hardest, because those programs rarely pay for name brands. These pharmaceutical companies got richer off of poor people and off of our tax dollars. That is way beyond "drug pushers". Do better.
