Christina Berger, a third-grade teacher in the Harrisburg School District, has been named the 2027 South Dakota Teacher of the Year, an honor announced Thursday by Education Secretary Joseph Graves.

“Christina Berger has crafted her own legacy in the Harrisburg School District,” Graves said during a banquet where Berger received the award. “Her colleagues, students and parents positively compliment her and her teaching style, with a common takeaway of every child feeling seen, valued and supported.”
