Sioux Falls UFO sightings were on the rise in 1976, with glowing objects, triangular crafts, balls of fire and more being reported in the skies that year, according to the Argus Leader.

But when multiple Minnehaha County sheriff’s deputies confirmed they had seen the unknown aerial object that caused a flurry of reports on the night of Aug. 26, 1976, an investigation followed.
