The United States celebrates its 250th birthday next year, and that means there will be all sorts of events in South Dakota and across the country to honor the birth of the greatest country ever. In the Mount Rushmore State, the South Dakota Historical Society Foundation is raising money for the America 250th South Dakota Commission. And what’s more Americana than raising money through a raffle?
In this case, the prize is extremely fitting, given the celebration. It’s a custom rifle manufactured by Parkwest Arms of Sturgis. The company’s SD-10 Single Shot Rifle evokes the imagery of the Minute Men who confronted King George III’s Red Coats at the start of the Revolution.
This isn’t any rifle. It’s valued at $7,995, plus an additional $1,000 in custom engraving. America’s 250th South Dakota logo will be engraved on the right side of the receiver.
“The winner will have the option to personalize the left side with custom engraving, making it a one-of-a-kind heirloom,” the foundation says in its promotional material.
