Last Spring, Redfield School Board member Brady Edgar had an idea to feed the school district’s students. He proposed that local cattle producers provide beef to the district – Edgar himself raises cattle.
That idea has turned into a reality this school year, according to The Aberdeen Insider. Local producers have donated enough beef for students in Redfield’s middle school and high school. Last year, the two school enrollments added up to about 250 students.
According to the district’s Facebook page, two head of cattle were butchered at The Meathouse in Andover. The cattle produced about 1,000 pounds of ground beef that is now in the school freezer.
