SCOUTING REPORT | Summer Nights in Rapid, Custer State Park, DSU plus Korea, Medals of Honor
A weekly digest of interesting local, state, national and even international developments
Rapid City is on the verge of renewing its downtown Summer Nights concert series, but not without opposition.
The weekly summer concert series in downtown was abandoned last year after the Rapid City Council denied the event a permit. The council was acquiescing to the demands of some downtown business owners who complained about road closures, litter and other problems, according to KOTA-TV.
Added to those issues is the fact that the event sells alcohol, proving to be a competitor to the brick-and-mortar year-round businesses.
