Secretary of Health Melissa Magstad shared some alarming news with lawmakers recently in Pierre – complaints about health care centers are exploding.
In fiscal-year 2024, the department conducted 888 inspections at health care facilities across the state. A decent number of those came after receiving a complaint about shoddy care at a facility. When the department receives a complaint, it triggers a mandatory inspection.
“The amount of complaints we have is skyrocketing,” Magstad said.
