Hollywood’s labor issues deepened this week when negotiations between the Producers and actors reached an impasse leading SAG AFTRA’s board (Screen Actors Guild – American Federation of Television and Radio Artists), for the first time since 1980, to approve a walkout. With the Writers at now over 60 days on the picket lines, it appears the actors will be reinforcing the picket lines. The Directors Guild reached an agreement and has submitted this proposed contract to its members.
Quick fallout of the new strike, Paramount+ cancelled the red carpet premiere of its limited series from Taylor Sheridan, Special Ops: Lioness that stars Zoe Saldana, Nicole Kidman and Michael Kelly. And in London, the strike led the cast of Oppenheimer to depart from the London Premiere screening before the film began. If the labor stoppage continues you can expect more cancellations and a longer delay in network TV series debuts.
