Dusty Johnson’s longtime aide joins Sioux Falls mayor’s office

A longtime aide to South Dakota’s four-term congressman is taking a position in municipal government.

After eight years with U.S. Rep. Dusty Johnson, Courtney Heitkamp will join Sioux Falls Mayor Christine Erickson’s administration next month as deputy chief of staff.

“Courtney understands the value of relationships and effective communication. She has spent years building strong connections at the local, state and federal levels, and those relationships will be an asset to Sioux Falls,” Erickson told The Dakota Scout on Sunday, confirming the hiring of the 39-year-old Washington High School graduate and Valparaiso University alum.
