Surging gas prices have pressure mounting on Republicans heading into next month’s midterm elections, and South Dakota Sen. Mike Rounds is asking President Donald Trump to take immediate steps to lower what Americans are paying at the pump.

Rounds on Friday urged Trump to suspend the federal gasoline tax through the end of the year and use his executive authority to address restrictions on domestic oil-refining capacity.
