The mayor of one of South Dakota’s largest cities, who at one point was “strongly considering” another term in office, will hand the baton to someone else in 2027.
Rapid City Mayor Jason Salamun went public about his decision against seeking a second term in an evening video address posted on his official Facebook page Sept. 13.
The end of Salamun’s mayoral term will complete the 48-year-old’s decade of service in local government — four years as mayor and six years on the Rapid City Common Council prior to that.
