A Flandreau man whose leg had to be amputated following an accident at an egg farm has sued the manufacturer of a ventilation system and the company that installed it, alleging they were negligent.

Cristian Gonzalez Aquino was a laborer at Dakota Layers when the June 12, 2022, accident occurred.

Beginning in 2020, Dakota Layers contracted with Valco Industries out of New Holland, Penn. to install new ventilation systems at its facilities, according to the lawsuit. Valco, which specializes in ventilation systems for indoor farm facilities, contracted with SM Installations in Virginia to install the new systems.
