A Minnehaha County Sheriff’s deputy has died after being shot Friday night in Sioux Falls.
The death of Deputy Katherine Frank — who marked her second anniversary since graduating from the police academy just last month — is the first time in more than a century that a Sioux Falls-based law enforcement officer has died from gunfire in the line of duty.
