A Minnehaha County sheriff’s deputy is in critical condition after she was shot in the line of duty, officials confirmed.

At approximately 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9, three Minnehaha County sheriff’s deputies were in the 2900 block of South Keyrell Drive in Sioux Falls, west of 41st Street and Marion Road. Law enforcement officials have not released any information related to the reason for the response.

According to Capt. Josh Phillips, the sheriff’s office responded to a 7 p.m. call for service, and arrived at approximately 7:30 p.m.
