Kristi Noem weighs in on U.S. House speaker race amid Israel emergency

South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem called on the U.S. House of Representatives to quickly resolve the vacant speaker’s position following Saturday’s surprise attack against Israel.
The attack by the Palestinian Hamas organization came a few days after eight Republicans in the U.S. House led by Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz joined all of that chamber’s Democratic members to oust California Rep. Kevin McCarthy from the speakership. The lack of a speaker hampers that chamber from bringing legislation, which could be necessary to assist Israel, a statement from Noem’s office said.
