Jorge Vasquez, 56, of North port, Florida, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on January 3, 2026. He will be remembered for his kindness, his humor, and his steadfast faith in Our Lord. His Memorial Service will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 6, 2026 at Kahler-Brende Funeral Home. Inurnment will be in the Dell Rapids Cemetery.
Jorge Vasquez was born on May 23, 1969 in Harlingen, Texas to Manual and Maria Vasquez. He attended school in San Antonio and Houston, Texas with his four siblings. He earned his GED in 1988.
He met Bonita in June 2010, and they married in April 2019 and lived in North Port, Florida. Jorge and Bonita cherished spending their time together with their three “babies.” They enjoyed frequent weekend road trips and new adventures.
Jorge loved to build things, to fix things, and to figure things out. He had a handyman business and was busy with that. He liked collecting tools and pickup trucks. Most recently, he was employed by an electrician group in South Dakota and working toward advancing to being a journeyman. He enjoyed the traveling and the work he was doing, his many work friends and the cold weather. He was always quick to lend a hand, a word of encouragement, or a joke. He enjoyed riding his Harley with his good buddies.
Blessed to have shared Jorge’s life are his wife Bonita, his son Jorge Vasquez II, and his large family of brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews in Texas, Florida, and South Dakota.
Jorge endeavored to help everyone. It mattered to him that he be a good person and live in God’s light. He was an organ and tissue donor and was able to help many people even at the time of his death.
Jorge is preceded in death by his mother Maria, his brothers James and Manuel, and his sister Mary. He is survived by his wife, his father Manuel Vasquez, Robstown, Texas and his son Jorge Vasquez, Dilley, Texas, his sister Marissa Hernandez, Mustang Ridge, Texas, and his many friends and family members in Florida, Texas, Wisconsin, and South Dakota.
