South Dakota’s western Catholic dioceses has found its next leader after about a four-month search.

The Diocese of Rapid City introduced Priest Scott Bullock as the next Bishop of the organization, filling a vacancy created after former Bishop Peter Muhich died of cancer in February.

Bullock, 60, comes to the Black Hills after an appointment by Pope Francis. The priest paid tribute to Muhich during his opening remarks at a press conference this week in Rapid City.
