Indiana man heading to prison for swindling South Dakota woman out of gold, cash
Abdul Waheed Mohammed was in scammer ring that targeted elderly victims around the country
An Indiana resident will spend five years in federal prison for his role in swindling a South Dakota woman out of $100,000.
Abdul Waheed Mohammed will also serve three years of supervised release following his release. Judge Camela Theeler ordered him to pay $163,000 in restitution Jan. 26, the U.S. Attorney’s Office announced.
Mohammed was convicted by a federal jury of conspiracy to commit wire fraud after a three-day trial in October. He had been indicted by a grand jury in November of 2024.
