Department of Corrections working to hire additional parole officers, increase supervision
Gov. Larry Rhoden announced a series of changes to South Dakota’s parole system Thursday aimed at increasing supervision of parolees, speeding up revocations for repeat offenders and strengthening public safety measures.
The changes are being implemented by the South Dakota Department of Corrections and include the creation of a specialized compliance unit, tougher sanctions for some parole violations and faster revocation proceedings.
