South Dakota county argues it terminated woman for just cause
Union County and its sheriff are denying allegations made by the former 911 dispatch coordinator that she was fired because of her sexual orientation and because she reported the department to the FBI.
Sara Beatty filed suit against the county and Sheriff James Prouty last week, saying she was terminated after she married a woman. The county fired back hours later with an answer denying her claims, saying Beatty was terminated for “non-discriminatory and non-retaliatory reasons” that included a “negative attitude, impaired working relationship” and an inability to trust her.
