Call it part meet and greet, part policy talk.

Whatever you call it, the annual legislative preview hosted by the Greater Sioux Falls Chamber of Commerce means the legislative session is near.

Thursday morning’s preview featured more than a dozen lawmakers headed to Pierre for the start of South Dakota’s 98th Legislative Session on Tuesday. Many of those invited were snowed in. Republican Sen. Jack Kolbeck joked that his late mother, who died a month ago, might have something to do with that. One of the last things she said was: “I’m going to go up to heaven and ask God for some moisture,” Kolbeck said.
