New residency rules, federal-only ballots and consolidated elections are complicating South Dakota’s June 2 primary.
And that has auditors and election officials navigating what they say is likely a historically complex election to administer. Some voters will notice, too.
“It’s a lot,” Minnehaha County Auditor Leah Anderson told The Dakota Scout as she wades through a series of new election integrity requirements governing this season’s elections and reshaping how she and her counterparts prepare for the thousands of ballots they’ll distribute, collect and tabulate over the next seven weeks.
