Landowners along French Creek near Custer have lost another bid to prevent the city from discharging treated wastewater into the creek.

A federal judge has dismissed their lawsuit, finding the suit wasn’t filed in time and concluding Custer had not violated the Clean Water Act.

As a child, Tim Czmowski remembers visiting his aunt and her sister, Alice Simonson, in Day County. The women were of Norwegian descent, which meant they liked lutefisk. Of course, they wanted him to partake of the pungent dried white fish concoction, which he wasn’t keen on.
