Aircraft storage cost hike set for takeoff at Sioux Falls-area airport
Lincoln County Commission also approves wage study, Christmas Eve courthouse closure, creation of public defender advisory committee
The cost of parking a plane at the Marv Skie-Lincoln County Airport in Tea is going up — by a lot.
The Lincoln County Commission voted 4-1 Tuesday to dramatically increase lease rates for hangars at the county-owned and subsidized airport, which has run deeper into the red in recent years.
Under the new lease structure, hangar owners will pay 40 cents per square foot annually, up from the current 15 cents. The lease includes an annual escalator clause equivalent to a half-cent increase, which will be re-evaluated every five years.
