The CEO of the Sioux Falls YMCA will run for an at-large City Council seat in next year’s citywide election.

James Oppenheimer announced his candidacy for the seat currently held by Councilor Sarah Cole. While eligible to run for a second term, Cole opted not to seek re-election. Instead, she will serve as chair of Oppenheimer’s campaign.

Oppenheimer, 45, will seek the At-Large A seat. The eight-member council consists of five district seats and three at-large seats subject to a citywide vote.
