Marty Jackley’s entry into the U.S. House race means the attorney general post in South Dakota will be up for grabs in 2026.
And the opening of that constitutional office has drawn interest from a flurry of Republican jurists and public officials open to becoming the state’s top law enforcement and criminal justice official.
That’s evident in the first GOP candidate emerging in what’s anticipated to be a hotly contested election — just days after Attorney General Jackley announced his congressional run.
