Virgil E Heidenreich was born on November 25, 1928, to Edward and Louise (Meyer) Heidenreich at their home in Spink County, near Northville, SD. His sister always said that he was placed on the oven door to keep him warm. He attended school in Northville, SD. Virgil was drafted into the United States Army in 1951 and served in the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1954.
On June 8th, 1952, Virgil married Arleen Luhmann in Northrop, MN. After Virgil was honorably discharged from the Army, Virgil and Arleen made their home on their farm outside of Northville, where he farmed, milked cows, and raised eight children.
Virgil had a loving heart and had the best judgement of character. He was very honest and had a dry sense of humor. He was a skilled welder and was highly creative. He could find a solution to any problem and fix just about anything. He enjoyed traveling and seeing the country, hunting, and fishing. He loved his family and found great joy spending time with them. He and his grandson, Evan restored his prized Model T car. He always encouraged his family to learn new things.
Virgil was a lifetime member of Trinity Lutheran Church and held many positions within the church. He was also an active member of the Lutheran Laymen’s League.
